A Bit of a Boring Week

Just another week in the middle of no where. I love it. I've been getting to know the are a lot better and we are working with all of our less actives. They actually progress here which is nice haha. I hope that this week we will be able to find a new investigator though. Nothing much has happened this week so sorry that I don't have any cool stories. We just did lots of visits.

Just a side note. I will be at the Temple next week so I won't be emailing at all until next Thursday. Speaking of, I love little things that you can look forward to throughout the transfer. It makes it go by so much easier for some reason. Zone Conference is this week, which I'm super stoked about too. Over 20 missionaries will be going home this transfer, which is totally the pits because almost everyone that I know and love is going home this transfer and next...sniff sniff. Also, not as many are coming out so some of the areas may be closing down now. It's crazy how much everything changes from one month to the next here. Change is good though and it's nice to move on and learn new things. It's funny how we or everything around us never really stays the same. I'm definitely not the same haha.

Well, I need to blow this popsicle stand and go buy myself some groceries. Sorry that it is so short and random this week but hopefully I will have something to talk about next time.

Love ya lots,

Hello From the Middle of Nowhere!

Yep, my time came and I got transferred!!!! I was not expecting that because I wasn't finished training but neither were a bunch of other people haha. I am now in Hesperia with Sister Riley!I will "kill"(she is going home) her next tranfer so I need to learn the area fast. It is a town in the middle of the desert with lots of crazy people, no green, and lots of potential! Awesome, right? God didn't want me to get too comfy and I guess that my time in DB was up. I freaked out and felt like having a meltdown or something. I'm seriously so sad but I know that this will be a good opportunity to start new and go on to bigger and better things...not really, but you get the point. It was hard saying goodbye to all my peeps though. It was nerve-racking leaving it all behind. You always wonder if you did all that you needed or if you wrote everything down. You go forward hoping that no one is forgotten but I know that my comp is in good hands. They will do good back in DB together. Man, I'm gonna miss that place. I went around the ward yesterday and had to say goodbye to so many people. They are all very loved.

Anywho, it was so nice to talk to everyone! There are way too many of you and so I totally ended up braking the rules and went over my time haha.....oops. You are all so amazing. It was nice to see that none of you had changed haha. I love opening all my presents! you are all so sweet! you know me too well. It feels weird that all of us siblings are in a different state. I hope it was good for all of you. We woke up, opened presents, had a nice breakfast and then finished all of our goody bags for the members. It was a bitter sweet moment one that I will never forget. It was so fun to see Marley for the first time and man, little baby J isn't so little anymore.

The rest of the day was spent caroling(hard to believe, I know. Me? singing?). I think that I have done more singing in the last month than I have my whole life. no offense mom and dad but our family kinda stinks at singing haha. Caroling is always funny because they either love it or they just stand there so polite and awkwardly hehe. I felt bad for some of them. We totally butchered like half of the carols but it was fun, and can you believe it?- COLD. Speaking of, the desert is actually really cold and I have nothing warm so this will be interesting. Mom, I might need you to send me some stuff. The Christmas time was super fun, exhausting, and exciting with lots going on and now that it is over it all goes back to normal but it is kinda nice. I get to start a new year, in a new place, with a new comp. Talk about awesomeness.
Well, I'm excited to see what the New year brings. Don't look back, eh? It 's going to be awesome and think what is in store for us all this year. This time next year we will all be sitting around a campfire cookin delicious hot shmoes.

Love ya lots!

Christmas Week

Well, I guess that I will start with the most exciting news, for me at least. God blessed us with two new investigators! one each week. Their names are Lucy and Kalen. Lucy is actually a former investigator who was only taught one lesson. She loved the Plan of Salvation because she had a miscarriage and both her and her husbands fathers have passed away. She is really excited to learn more and everything about religion is starting to make so much more sense for her now. She grew up catholic but never really knew what was going on half the time.

Kalen is one tough cookie. Just imagine trying to teach Isaac haha. jk. Isaac I love you. But he has done a lot of intensive research on everything. We met him while we were teaching the Bosveld family. He just walked in the door with their son and we struck up an intense conversation about religion. We got his number and we were able to meet with them all Saturday night. It turned into a two hour lesson haha. He has a lot of preconceived notions about the church so we had to clear a lot of them up. He is a very logical thinker adn we don't feel like he wants to Bible bash but is really searching. He will have to gdt to a point though where he will have to exercise some faith. He came to church on Sunday though and really liked it. We could tell that he was starting to warm up to everything. The awesome Poly's took him under their wing hehe. We dropped by at their place last night and there were about 50 people in the house and he was just sitting there jammin on his guitar with them and their ukes. It was stinken awesome. We have a really awesome return missionary who is really good at fellowshippping so ha has been a life saver. While we in the lessons there were a million things that I could have said to contradict his thinking but I came to realize that he will be converted by the Spirit and not my arguments. we really do receive so much light and understanding when we have the Spirit with us. If anything, his arguments against whatever we talked about strengthened my testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. To me it just plain old makes sense the more I learn and study.

Anywho, now to the fun stuff. We had our ward Christmas Party last Saturday. It was seriously the best ward party I have ever been to. The Polynesians hosted it this year and man oh man, they went all out. There was a ton of really good food and you know how happy and energetic they can be hehe. It was Christmas in the islands themed so we all got to wear out Hawaiian shirts and put flowers in out hair.

We also had an amazing experience at the St Denis church. They were all so nice and so welcoming. Their church was huge! First we sang and then their choir sang and then we all sang together. It was such an amazing night. We had hot chocolate and cookies after and everyone was just talking up a storm. It was too bad that none of the other churches wanted to join in. they missed out.

We also had our Christmas devo with the valley missionaries. The young women made us all hats so people went a little crazy with there cameras but they had a fun slide show and dinner.

This Christmas has been extra special for me. It has been the first year that hasn't been focused on the things that really don't matter all that much. I've had the chance to whole heartedly focus on what this season about and that is Christ. We had a chance to carol at a boat parade and at a neighborhood Christmas light show. it was awesome to see how peoples hearts were softened as they for a moment realized what it was all about. I have seen the difference of how I have felt and I can honestly say that it is one of the best Christmases I have even had. I will be home before next Christmas but  I'm so grateful that I was able to spend one here. Our ward members have really reached out to us and have been so thoughtful. They seriously melt my heart.  I love my Savior and I'm so grateful that His birth meant that I could one day return to our Heavenly Father again. Give something to him this Christmas.

I love you all to death and can't wait to talk to you all!

Love ya lots,

Happy Birthday to Me

Hope that you all had a good week. My week wasn't so bad. I'm still feeling a little under the weather and my cough and runny nose decided to stick around for a bit longer  but I'm slowly getting better. Our week had a lot more lessons than the previous couple and this next week we have a bunch of awesome lessons set up. I am actually super stoked. My little greenie has her 4 week meeting on Wednesday which is so crazy. I can't believe how fast that flew by. Next thing we know and I will be chatting up a storm with you all on Christmas!
So I didn't do anything for my birthday but the other sister missionaries sent me a little card, some confetti, and a couple of balloons in a little envelope and my zone all texted me happy Birthday. It was kinda uneventful though but it's all good. On Saturday we went over to grandma's and helped her decorate her tree! it was so much fun and so cozy and sweet. We also got a chance to do a couple of really fun service projects. One was that we went and helped teach English and the other one we got to go help out in a thrift store that helps kids in Africa. The English teaching was my favorite though. They were all like the sweetest people ever and it was fun to see how excited they got about learning. We taught them different idioms haha. It was hilarious. They couldn't understand why so many had to do with a cat. On Saturday my comp and did a little spur of the moment hike up a huge hill. It had a lovely view. It rained cats and dogs for the first time in months last week and so all of the hills are starting to turn green again!!!! It is like my dream come true. Christmas lights are popping up to and fro and everybody is getting so excited. I'm excited! This is such an amazing time of year. I just love it all so much. We are in our ward choir and we are preparing to go sing at this huge catholic church next Sunday. Every year we take turns hosting it and this year it is at their place so we get to go over and sing in their massive church! You all know that I'm not much of a singer and I have absolutely no idea what anyone is ever talking about when they try to perfect it but we figured that it would be a good opportunity for people to see us and maybe when we knock on their door they won't be so mean hehe.
Well, I am so glad that you all are doing so good. Mom gave me a little spill about what is going on with each of you. I hope that you all know how much I love you. Keep me updated!

Love ya lots,
Sister Prows
